If so, we are looking to appoint ab Lead Nurse who will undertake the leadership and the management of the Cardiovascular prevention Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) within Barts Health NHS Trust. The primary care setting is continuing to evolve and we are seeking an applicant with skills in nursing leadership, change management and operational management. The position has office space at Mile End Hospital & offices close to St Bartholomew's, delivers clinics and education support to GP Practices in Tower Hamlets and plays a key role in delivering clinical care in our clinics at St Bartholomew's Hospital with our medical and pharmacy colleagues. As we continue to transform and expand our service, you will play a key strategic and operational role in driving forward innovative prevention initiatives. Interviews will be held on 24th June 2026 Main duties of the job This is an exciting opportunity to develop your leadership skills. The post holder will support and manage a team of CNS's and will work closely with the GP services, Senior Nurse, General Managers, Service Managers along with our medical colleagues at St Bartholomew's Hospital site. They will also need to have an interest in participating and in contributing to the service improvement and development. You will need to be highly organised, and have the ability to build a strong working relationship with the multi-disciplinary team. In addition, you will be expected to lead on quality improvement projects and to ensure the agendas for the service are achieved and maintained. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria Registered general Nurse Master's degree in a relevant subject or working towards Post Registration qualification in cardiovascular disease risk factor management or equivalent Evidence of post-basic continuing professional development and development within the field of cardiovascular disease Independent prescribing qualification or working towards Relevant formal teaching qualification Relevant management qualification or willing to work towards Experience Essential criteria 5 years post-registration experience Advanced clinical knowledge of cardiovascular disease Experience of acute cardiac nursing Proven leadership skills and able to lead and develop teams recognising and understanding team dynamics Experience in change management and service development Experience in teaching and assessing in clinical practice Research experience and the ability to apply research findings and undertake clinical audit Experience of project management Experience of clinical supervision Desirable criteria Working with EMIS Knowledge Essential criteria Knowledge of International and National guidelines in relation to cardiovascular disease and Long-Term conditions Knowledge and understanding of clinical governance Previous experience of budget management Skills Essential criteria Ability to hold a clear strategic vision Ability to operate across many disciplines and management levels Knowledge, skills and experience in managing a multidisciplinary team Demonstrates reflective skills to enhance clinical practice Recognition within the profession with an existing network of professional contacts Developing and implementing policies, guidelines and projects from initiation to completion A clear understanding of recent NHS reforms and the opportunities and challenges they present to the ICB IT skills including the use of spreadsheets Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to actively contribute to a team of senior health care professionals Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills Proven ability to manage a complex and changing workload, demonstrating the ability to resolve conflicting priorities and tight timescales Ability to travel efficiently throughout Tower Hamlets Other Essential criteria High levels of motivation and enthusiasm A demonstratable commitment to personal and professional development Able to work autonomously and demonstrate initiative Desirable criteria Car Driver Visa Sponsorship Information Recent changes to UK immigration policy on the Health and Care Visa and Skilled Worker Visa could mean that this role is not eligible for sponsorship or that you may not meet the eligibility criteria.
