ROLE OVERVIEW

* Conduct operational due diligence on third‑party alternative investment managers, with emphasis on business and operational capabilities. This includes leading and participating in on‑site and virtual meetings with investment managers and their key personnel to evaluate governance, financial and operational sustainability, talent management, operating models, infrastructure, transactional workflows, liquidity management, compliance, valuation, cybersecurity, and service provider arrangements.
* Review and assess advisor and fund documentation, including offering documents, legal structures, procedure manuals, compliance policies, financial statements, and marketing materials.
* Monitor third‑party advisors through diligence surveillance tools, AI‑enabled platforms, publicly available information, and periodic reporting (e.g., financial statements) to identify reputational, legal, and operational risks and evaluate the effectiveness of controls designed to mitigate them. Maintain and update proprietary ODD databases and systems to support manager and platform analysis.
* Develop and deepen knowledge of alternative investment strategies, including hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, private credit, long‑only strategies, real estate, and impact investing.
* Build and maintain knowledge of key service providers within the alternative investment ecosystem, including managed services and technology platforms.
* Support the project management of multiple work streams across the GSAM XIG diligence functions, with a focus on annual and ongoing diligence initiatives.
* Communicate diligence observations and conclusions to senior management, clients, and other stakeholders through written memos, presentations, and verbal briefings. Contribute to internal governance and risk oversight committees by presenting operational diligence findings and recommendations as required.
* Build and maintain relationships with the broader Investment and Client Solutions teams within XIG, as well as divisional Compliance and Legal functions, serving as a key point of contact for operational diligence matters.

QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS

* Interest in and demonstrated aptitude for the alternative investment industry, including its global strategies, structures, and financial instruments.
* Strong interpersonal, relationship management, and communication skills, with the ability to conduct effective interviews and meetings with senior professionals.
* Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough research, evaluate diverse information sources, identify control strengths and weaknesses, and form well‑reasoned, objective conclusions.
* Strong project management skills and sound business acumen, with the ability to prioritize competing workstreams effectively.
* Highly organized and proactive, with keen attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all deliverables.
* Excellent quantitative, qualitative, and analytical skills, with a data‑driven and strategic approach to problem solving.
* Technological proficiency (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and other enterprise tools).
* Ability to manage multiple time‑sensitive initiatives simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of quality.
* Quick learner who can navigate a complex organization and become productive rapidly.
* Insatiable curiosity and healthy professional skepticism.
