The Opportunity: Head of Scenic
This is more than just a job—it’s your chance to build, shape, and lead a world-class scenic workshop from the ground up. You'll be at the forefront of innovation, craftsmanship, and leadership, taking ownership of an expanding department that’s critical to delivering cutting-edge event environments.
Currently operating from a small workshop in Notting Hill, the scenic team is preparing to move into a custom-built space next to the technical production HQ in Kent. With a talented team of carpenters and scenic painters already in place, your role will be to elevate the standard, grow the team, and lead the delivery of exceptional scenic builds for high-end events.
What You'll Be Doing
Scenic Design Leadership
* Champion design excellence in scenic builds
* Work closely with creative teams to push boundaries in scenic concepts
* Uphold innovation and quality as non-negotiables
Production Excellence
* Lead the production of scenic elements to industry-leading standards
* Oversee workshop operations and workflow for efficient delivery
* Ensure all output exceeds client expectations and benchmarks
Fulfilment & Installation
* Deliver scenic elements in high-pressure environments and heritage venues
* Oversee installs with surgical precision under tight deadlines
* Ensure compliance with venue regulations and client standards
Team Building & Growth
* Define new roles and lead recruitment as the department scales
* Inspire and mentor your team to uphold craftsmanship and innovation
* Shape the culture and future of the scenic division
What We’re Looking For
We’re after a hands-on leader with deep experience in scenic production, who thrives in fast-paced environments and takes pride in delivering top-tier results. You’ll need to be a natural team builder, a perfectionist when it comes to finish, and someone who brings both creativity and structure to the workshop floor.
You’ll Bring:
* Significant experience in scenic construction for corporate events or theatre
* Proven ability to lead teams and oversee end-to-end scenic production
* Strong project management skills, especially under time constraints
* High standards of finish and attention to detail
* Ability to problem-solve onsite and adapt quickly under pressure
