As the Controls Project Manager, you will ensure that projects are delivered safely, within budget, and with the expected quality to the satisfaction of the customer. You will maximize the project’s success through professional and economical implementation of customer requirements. Your work will involve travel across Europe, with a typical schedule of one week on-site and one week off to promote work-life balance.
What you'll be handling:
1. Deliver performance, deadlines, technology, and cost targets for control elements of assigned projects.
2. Plan resource requirements in accordance with the project schedule.
3. Coordinate layout conversions (drive divisions, stowage spaces) through collaboration with customers, departments, and suppliers.
4. Create specifications, including customer and supplier specifications for Controls and MFR requirements.
5. Lead the technical management of System, Hardware, and Software Engineers, ensuring adherence to deadlines, budgets, and specifications.
6. Facilitate interface discussions with customers and develop control interface specifications with third parties.
7. Create control cabinet construction orders.
8. Develop tender documents for purchased controls trades (e.g., E-installation).
9. Guide commissioning engineers on-site and in-house, ensuring schedule and quality adherence.
10. Support on-site teams and organize customer training sessions in collaboration with the Project Manager.
11. Transfer systems to the Customer Support team with all documentation and training.
12. Ensure compliance with UK, European, Company, and Customer standards.
13. Act as a deputy for Project Managers when nominated.
14. Participate in contract reviews and monitor project progress, quality, and issues.
15. Visit suppliers and construction sites to oversee progress and quality.
16. Report variations and prepare cost estimates for changes.
17. Review project designs and provide internal feedback.
18. Manage subcontracted packages from order to acceptance.
19. Visit customer sites to troubleshoot control system issues.
What you'll need:
1. A relevant qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering and Project Management.
2. Strong experience in controls systems design and delivery.
3. Project management experience in a project engineering environment.
4. Experience with site installation and management.
5. Proficiency in AutoCAD for mechanical and electrical drawings.
6. Leadership and team motivation skills.
7. Customer focus and initiative.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Navision, AutoCAD, MS Project, and JIRA.
9. Specialized knowledge in sensor/actuator technology, control systems, and logistics.
