DESCRIPTION
Amazon is seeking a European VAT manager with experience in European VAT to support the EMEA VAT advisory team. This position involves tax research, providing VAT technical advice to business stakeholders, and working on tax and process automation projects.
Key job responsibilities
1. Provide VAT advice to various Amazon business stakeholders, including consolidating European VAT advice/requirements and responding to VAT queries.
2. Research new tax laws and assess their impact on Amazon.
3. Collaborate with technology teams on tax automation projects and process improvements.
A day in the life
* Assist with planning, coordination, and communication of business projects with tax dependencies.
* Identify process improvement opportunities and develop strategies using your expertise.
* Work with tax, business, and tech teams, including drafting documentation to support analyses and decisions.
* Communicate effectively with partner teams and support external engagements.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Confident communicator and team player able to work independently.
* Ability to collaborate across all organizational levels.
* Proactive with ownership mindset and problem-solving skills.
* Organized, detail-oriented, and methodical.
* Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
* Experience with tax technology tools and/or generative AI (preferred but not required).
* Minimum 7 years of European VAT advisory experience, from a Big4 or in-house role.
* Interest in tax technology and automation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Professional tax qualification, chartered accountant, or relevant legal degree.
* International VAT experience in practice and industry, including cross-border supplies.
* Experience related to e-commerce or platform economy.
