Senior Childcare Solicitor
South Wales Local Authority
Rate: £50-£60 per hour - Negotiable
Contract: 12-month FTC
This is an amazing opportunity for an experienced Childcare Solicitor to play a key role in the development of legal services for a local authority based in Southern Wales. You will join an enthusiastic and well-established team with the drive to provide outstanding legal support.
Key Responsibilities
* To develop, monitor and provide efficient and effective legal services to meet the needs of the Council.
* To have care and conduct of a caseload of complex children's social care and children's safeguarding matters and ensure the caseload is managed in accordance with established practice guidelines.
* To advise on the initiating and making of other associated appropriate applications relating to this area of work.
* To appear on behalf of the Council as an advocate in a relevant court as appropriate on children's social care and children's safeguarding matters or any other matter.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will need to:
* Be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEX in England and Wales with a current practising certificate.
* Have experience and/or knowledge of the children's safeguarding functions of a Local Authority
* Have knowledge of associated primary and secondary legislation, in particular but not limited to the Children Acts and the Children and Families Act 2014.
* Be able to prioritise a complex and diverse workload often to tight deadlines.
