Employment Type : Temporary Full Time (Until August 2026) Position Classification : Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 2 Remuneration : $135,826.04 - $138,534.10 Per Annum 12% Super Salary Packaging Requisition ID : REQ624596 Location: Wallsend Campus Closing: Sunday, 21st December 2025 About The Service The Hunter New England (HNE) and Central Coast Specialised Intellectual Disability Health Team (SIDHT) is one of seven specialist teams across NSW dedicated to improving health outcomes for people with intellectual disability. Based at the Wallsend Health Campus, the team delivers high-quality, person-centred consultation and support for clients with complex or unmet health needs. Services are delivered across HNE and the Central Coast, giving staff the opportunity to work with diverse communities and clinical partners. You’ll be joining a warm, highly skilled multidisciplinary team characterised by collaboration, respect, and a deep commitment to advocacy. You’ll be supported by the Allied Health Manager – NDIS, Disability and Clinical Quality & Improvement, and work within an experienced, welcoming SIDHT team that values collaboration and professional growth. About The Role An exciting opportunity now exists for a Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC2) to step into a key leadership role within the SIDHT. As the Team Leader, you’ll guide a dedicated multidisciplinary group - including social workers, paediatricians, general practitioners and administrative staff - to deliver best-practice consultation, clinical support, and specialist advice for clients with intellectual disability and their families. Your week will be varied and rewarding. You’ll provide expert clinical leadership, deliver specialist nursing consultation, participate in case discussions, and support capacity building across NSW Health and primary care. You’ll also help shape service improvement initiatives and strengthen partnerships with healthcare providers across the region. This is a role where your leadership has direct, meaningful impact - and where your expertise contributes to better access, better experiences, and better health for people with intellectual disability. Who You Are You're someone who leads with empathy, integrity and clarity. You bring: Current Authority to Practice with AHPRA who has at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in this specialty field. In addition, the employee must have approved postgraduate nursing qualifications in intellectual disability, disability or management. Eligibility to drive in NSW and the ability and willingness to drive for work purposes Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong rapport across clinical and community networks Advanced knowledge of intellectual disability and a passion for advocating for equitable healthcare A calm, adaptable approach when navigating complex or challenging situations Commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and evidence-based practice Genuine care for team development, empowering others to grow and deliver safe, person-centred care Some skills can be developed on the job - but the non-negotiables are compassion, leadership capability, strong communication, and a commitment to improving the health journeys of people with intellectual disability.
