The Vacancy
Let us tell you a bit more about us…
We're a nimble and ambitious financial services specialist. Backing people to go for it in life and business.
We're UK-based supporting our customers across a range of products and services. Aldermore Group was formed by bringing together two very successful businesses, Aldermore Bank and MotoNovo Finance, under the First Rand umbrella.
We thrive by saying "yes" to our customers. We respect the ingenuity of entrepreneurs and their startups; we give first-timers a leg-up onto the property ladder; we open up the lending market to many; and thousands of customers chose Motonovo Finance every week to buy their next car, van or motorbike.
This is where you come in. We are on a journey. A journey defined by a destination; to deliver on our purpose.
Let us tell a bit about the opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and high-performing team. In this role, you will be responsible for underwriting credit applications submitted by Aldermore's broker panel, first line, and wholesale teams. You'll manage exposures ranging from £100k to £1m within a delegated underwriting authority, ensuring full compliance with the Bank's Lending Policy.
You'll work closely with both internal and external stakeholders, maintaining clear and effective communication while adopting a proactive, 'can-do' attitude. A key part of your role will be contributing to the Bank's commitment to responsible lending—helping protect against unexpected bad debt by operating within Aldermore's Lending Policy and Group Risk Framework.
We're looking for someone who is genuinely aligned with the Bank's values and can act as a true ambassador for the organisation in everything they do.
What will your day look like?
* Assess and underwrite new business proposals in line with delegated approval authorities, including financial analysis, risk assessment, and recommending deals outside of approval limits when required.
* Apply the Asset Finance Lending Policy and Standards consistently, ensuring proposals meet the Bank's credit risk appetite and contribute to continuous improvement in credit quality.
* Maintain service level agreements (SLAs) by delivering timely and consistent credit decisions in a fast-paced, flow lending environment.
* Collaborate effectively with internal teams including Asset Management, CDD, and Financial Crime to support the underwriting process and manage any issues identified during onboarding.
* Build and manage strong stakeholder relationships, both internally and with the Bank's broker panel, to support deal flow and enhance service delivery.
* Support the ongoing development of credit policies and strategies, contributing to the refinement of processes and a culture of continuous risk improvement.
What do we expect from you?
* Extensive experience within the Asset Finance industry
* Proven Asset Finance credit management skills
* Experience of working to tight SLA's and processing high volumes of new business proposals
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Strong team leadership and interpersonal skills
* Proven negotiating skills and strong solutions orientation
What can you expect of us?
* A friendly and flexible culture, the same as how we work with our customers
* A growing organisation that means there's lots of opportunities to progress
* A drive for continuous improvement, which you will be empowered to get behind from day one
* A communicative, accessible and approachable ExCo.
* And of course, you will be rewarded competitively, with a good range of core benefits and bonus potential
