Learning Disability Nurse (Part‑Time)

Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Disability Nurse to join our team in London on a part‑time basis. The ideal candidate will have a robust nursing background, ideally including experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or senior care settings. This role plays a pivotal part in providing high‑quality care to individuals with learning disabilities, safeguarding their well‑being, and enhancing their quality of life through personalised support and interventions.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Assess and evaluate the needs of clients with learning disabilities, creating individual care plans that support independence and dignity.
* Administer medications, monitor for side effects or adverse reactions, and ensure strict compliance with all medication protocols.
* Provide direct nursing care across various settings such as care homes, assisted living facilities, and home care environments.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (e.g. social workers, therapists, GPs) to support conditions like dementia or Alzheimer's as needed.
* Supervise and mentor junior staff, fostering professional growth and a supportive working environment.
* Maintain accurate clinical records, monitor progress, and communicate any changes or concerns to relevant parties (clients, families, colleagues).
* Participate in leadership and quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery, best practices, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (Learning Disability / General Nursing) with current registration (e.g. NMC)
* Proven experience in a nursing role within assisted living, care homes, or similar care settings
* Strong understanding of care planning, safeguarding, health & safety, and regulation in the sector
* Excellent leadership, supervisory, and mentoring capabilities
* Clear written and verbal communication skills; ability to liaise effectively with clients, families, and professionals
* Methodical, organised, and able to manage tasks efficiently within limited hours
* A compassionate, respectful approach to working with people with learning disabilities
