Gleeson Homes are recruiting for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to assist the Regional Commercial team, delivering the Group Business plan, commercial objectives, budgets, and future growth requirements by being involved in commercial activities, supporting the implementation, control, and reporting of all development/build-related expenditure.

Our teams include a Commercial Director, a Managing Quantity Surveyor, a Senior, Quantity Surveyors, and Assistants.
Main Responsibilities:
As a senior leader, it is crucial to adopt a ‘whole company’ perspective on the performance of building homes, embodying Gleeson’s vision, mission, and values, and enhancing profitability and operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the commercial function, ensuring compliance, control, deployment, and performance management of the quantity surveying team, with responsibilities for development budgets and commercial controls.
* Support operational requirements, targets, and budgets related to land acquisition, subcontractor tendering and management, payments, CVRs, cost reviews, variations, procurement, and system use, ensuring adherence to commercial processes and standards.
* Oversee the Quantity Surveying function on at least one active development, including subcontract procurement, site meetings, and CVR production.
* Contribute to the Commercial Land Appraisal process and site commencement programmes to accurately capture costs and revenues at each development phase.
* Coordinate with build management and procurement teams on material scheduling and delivery, ensuring the commercial team delivers planned actions.
* Monitor material quality and supplier/subcontractor performance, providing feedback and addressing standards issues directly with suppliers and subcontractors.
The Ideal Candidate:
* Relevant qualification or significant experience in Commercial Management
* Proficiency in Coins, Microsoft Excel, and Word
* Strong understanding of the commercial implications of design and build methods
* Financial and technical knowledge of construction industry practices
* Knowledge of relevant codes and regulations (Building Regulations, NHBC, HSE, CDM Regulations)
* Strong analytical skills to identify trends and improvement opportunities
* Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with senior colleagues and regional teams
* Energetic, driven, and influential with resilience and maturity
* Excellent communication skills and commercial acumen
* Innovative thinking and flexibility to travel as needed
