As Senior Tax Manager, you will take ownership of a varied portfolio of clients, delivering high quality tax compliance and advisory work while supporting junior team members and working closely with partners on specialist projects. This is a key role within the tax team, offering both technical depth and leadership responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance and Technical Delivery
• Prepare tax returns for individuals and partnerships
• Prepare ERS and EMI returns
• Prepare P11D forms and PSA calculations
• Support clients with capital gains tax and inheritance tax matters
• Deal with HMRC enquiries and client queries
• Ensure accurate and timely delivery of all compliance work
Tax Advisory and Planning
• Identify and implement tax planning opportunities for clients
• Assist partners with specialist tax consultancy projects
• Provide advisory support across a range of tax areas
• Translate complex tax issues into clear, understandable advice
Client Management
• Act as a key point of contact for a portfolio of tax clients
• Build and maintain strong, long term client relationships
• Support the development of new business opportunities
• Provide a high level of client service and responsiveness
Team Management
• Manage workflow and support junior team members
• Review work prepared by junior staff and provide feedback
• Mentor and develop less experienced members of the team
• Contribute to the overall development of the tax department
Portfolio and Delivery Management
• Manage your own workload and deadlines effectively
• Ensure high standards of accuracy and technical quality
• Work collaboratively with partners and wider team members
• Support efficient delivery across compliance and advisory work
RequirementsSkills and Experience Required
• At least 3 years’ experience in a tax role within an accountancy practice
• CTA qualified or qualified by experience, other qualifications considered
• Strong technical knowledge across a range of tax areas
• Experience in both compliance and advisory work
• Excellent client relationship and communication skills
• Ability to explain complex tax matters in plain English
• Strong IT skills including intermediate Excel
• Experience with CCH would be an advantage
• Full UK driving licence and access to own transport
