POST OF UROLOGY CONSULTANT
A whole-time post as Consultant in Urology is available at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a new post based at the Churchill Hospital. Applications are welcome from those who wish to job share. The post involves cystectomy and robotic prostatectomy, complex pelvic oncology surgery, and joining the bladder cancer team. Experience in major pelvic oncology including cystectomy is essential; experience in robotic surgery is desirable.

Key Responsibilities
The post holder will be based at the Churchill Hospital with duties in other Parts of the Trust, including the John Radcliffe and Horton Hospital. Clinical work includes major pelvic oncology, with a particular focus on bladder cancer, including delivery of a cystectomy service, and all other aspects of major pelvic oncology.
The post holder will join the consultant emergency on-call rota on a 1 in 10 basis. The service is a 24/7 emergency adult urology service, including cover of the urology triage area and all aspects of emergency general urology including major trauma. Elective commitments are cancelled during on-call weeks, and there is a middle grade (SpR or Fellow) on call both day and night and at weekends.

Person Specification
Qualifications
 * Essential: FRCS (urol.) or equivalent CCT in Urology; or Registration on GMC Specialist Register in Urology; or within six months of achieving CCST at the time of interview.
 * Desirable: Higher medical degree
Experience
 * Essential: General training in Urology to specialist level or equivalent; Ability to make decisions at consultant level
Skills and Knowledge
 * Essential: Leadership within an organization and knowledge of national access targets; good communication, professional and interpersonal skills for a large teaching hospital; good spoken and written English; experience of teaching undergraduates and trainees; experience of routine clinical audit
 * Desirable: Knowledge of NHS organisation and modernization; computing skills; management training and experience
