Head of Operations
Location: Edinburgh (clinic-based with some flexibility)
Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer
Role Synopsis
This is a senior leadership opportunity within a growing preventative healthcare clinic, combining clinical leadership, operational management, and commercial support in a single role.
The Head of Operations will be responsible for ensuring safe, high-quality clinical service delivery while building scalable operational processes to support business growth. The position blends hands-on clinical responsibilities with strategic operational oversight, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working both in service delivery and in leadership capacity within a small but ambitious healthcare organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Governance
* Act as Clinical Manager, ensuring clinical standards, patient safety, and quality of care
* Maintain oversight of clinical governance, risk management, audits, and quality improvement
* Ensure compliance with professional standards, clinical guidelines, and internal policies
* Provide clinical insight into senior leadership and board-level discussions
Clinical Service Delivery
* Deliver FibroScan examinations in line with clinic schedules
* Communicate results clearly and professionally to patients
* Provide high-quality patient care and support throughout the patient journey
Operational Leadership
* Oversee day-to-day clinic operations
* Develop and improve operational processes and workflows
* Implement and maintain SOPs and operational documentation
* Manage scheduling, capacity planning, and resource allocation
Business Growth & Development
* Support execution of business strategy alongside the CEO
* Engage with corporate and individual enquiries
* Identify opportunities to expand services and improve patient pathways
Marketing & Communications
* Support website updates and LinkedIn activity
* Maintain consistent brand messaging
* Contribute to awareness campaigns around preventative health
Quality & Compliance
* Maintain ISO compliance and quality management standards
* Prepare documentation for audits and governance reviews
* Ensure operational compliance with healthcare regulations
Person Specification
Essential
* Clinical background with relevant healthcare qualification (degree level or above)
* Strong understanding of clinical governance and healthcare operations
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
* Strong organisational and project management capability
Desirable
* Experience working within UK healthcare (NHS or private sector)
* Experience in healthcare operations within a growing organisation
* Familiarity with operational systems, marketing tools, or clinic management platforms
