About Us
Advocacy Support Cymru (ASC) is a registered charity with offices in Cardiff and Swansea. We provide Independent Mental Health and Mental Capacity Advocacy Services across South Wales, employing 44 staff members.
About the Role
The post holder will support clients who lack capacity and implement the safeguards of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 or the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. They will provide non-instructed advocacy (NIA) support to individuals who lack capacity to make specific decisions and have no one else to support them. The successful candidate will travel efficiently within the Advocacy Support Cymru area of operation.
This role operates within Swansea Bay University Health Board and the Hywel Dda University Health Board Area.
About You
You will have experience working with vulnerable adults and/or children in health or social care settings, or indirectly, such as as a carer. You should understand and have experience working effectively with Health and Social Care Professionals. Knowledge of the role of the Independent Mental Capacity Advocate as defined in the Mental Capacity Act 2005 is essential. Previous direct experience is preferred but training will be provided.
Essential Information
The salary range is £20,047 to £23,677, based on a 30-hour week. This position is for 30 hours per week. All successful candidates will require an enhanced DBS check.
