Morgan Hunt currently requires a Head Chef for FE College in Hampshire on a Permanent Basis Salary From - £31,921 - £36,497 per annum. Hours: 37 hours per week - 39 weeks per year. (Monday to Friday four shifts 08:00-16:00 and one shift 11:00-19:00, and required to work 1 weekend every half term to see the boarders and weekend staff). Location: Hampshire ROLE OVERVIEW The Head Chef is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the day-to-day culinary operation at the college. This includes the strategic planning, development, and execution of high- quality, nutritious, and diverse menus for a large student body (circa 5000-day students), 2 dedicated boarding houses (73 students), college events and growing hospitality offering. The Head Chef will supervise and motivate a team of approximately 20 catering professionals, ensuring operational excellence and unwavering adherence to food safety and hygiene standards. This role is central to enhancing the student experience through exceptional food provision. Suitable Candidates Our ideal candidate will be a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef with extensive experience in high-volume catering (ideally 2000 meals daily). A strong, inspirational leader with a track record of managing and developing large kitchen brigades (15-20 staff). Exceptional culinary skills, creativity, and a passion for delivering fresh, high-quality food. In-depth knowledge of HACCP, food safety, and health & safety regulations. Excellent financial acumen, with experience in menu costing, budgeting, and waste reduction. Someone who thrives under pressure, is highly organised, and possesses strong communication skills and an individual with empathy and a genuine interest in catering for young people.
