Overview
Manufacturing and Facilities Engineering (Multiple Roles & Locations) Industrial Placement, UK 2026 at GSK. This advert contains two roles within the same placement year.
Salary: £25,400 plus a bonus. Duration: 12 months. Expected start date: June 2026. Workplace: Full time onsite. Location options: Barnard Castle (County Durham) and Stevenage (Hertfordshire).

Education and Eligibility
Education required: Currently studying an Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering. You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of your placement. You must be enrolled at a UK or ROI university for the duration of your placement. If you have already graduated with a bachelor’s degree and are currently studying a postgraduate Masters, you are not eligible for this programme. Language: Written and spoken fluency in English.

Role Learnings and Responsibilities
* Role 1 – Facilities Engineering (Barnard Castle): work with automation engineering and digital technology teams to deliver capital projects; provide business system support; upgrade platforms including cyber security; integrate machines with cloud data analytics; develop skills with automation systems (PLCs, HMIs, DCS, SCADA) and MES.
* Role 2 – Facilities Engineering (Stevenage): work within R&D Engineering Services to support facilities management, capital projects, engineering standards and compliance; lifecycle asset management; energy & sustainability; cross-functional projects; contribute to safety and quality risk assessments; support maintenance best practice and project management.
Key Placement Learnings
* Understanding equipment, plant and processes used at the site; problem solving and design of systems.
* Utilising specialist engineering software; replacing and innovating existing systems and processes.
* Supporting delivery of Engineering, Inspection and Reliability programmes; exploring new technologies for plant maintenance.
* Developing skills in leading and managing groups of peers or contractors; project management and planning.
