We are looking for a Research Associate In Silico to join our Oxford-based team as part of the OBT UK Target Discovery Bioinformatics team.
Purpose of the Role
In this role, you will support the discovery, investigation, and presentation of therapeutic cancer targets using bioinformatics-based approaches. Training will be provided as needed.
This position would be ideal for a bioinformatics graduate with an interest in cancer biology and/or mass spectrometry-based proteomics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Assist with bioinformatic pipeline including: researching and annotating proteins of interest from internal and public resources.
* Assist with routine bioinformatics tasks to support business development, target discovery, and US labs.
* Collaborate with the wider bioinformatics team to implement ad-hoc tasks for business development, target discovery, and US teams where appropriate.
* Create and develop new and existing bioinformatic tools.
* Analyze, summarize, and present data.
* Assist with other functions as needed.
Note: Responsibilities are not limited to the above.
Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:
* Proficiency in programming (e.g., Python, R) with a desire to develop these skills.
* Masters degree in a related field (biology, bioinformatics, computer science, etc.).
* Experience reading and summarizing scientific literature.
* Basic knowledge of proteomics and cancer biology is beneficial but not essential.
* Excellent written and spoken English skills.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
* Good understanding of statistics and interest in developing skills in this area.
