An opportunity has arisen to join our team of Site Matrons at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for a 6-month secondment period. The post holder will be supported by an established team of Site Matrons, an Operational Support Manager, and Patient Flow Assistants.
The Site Matron role is integral to the successful operation of the hospital. You will need to be a quick thinker and a strong leader with excellent problem-solving skills, able to make sound operational decisions in rapidly changing situations, often under pressure. A calm and pleasant manner is essential.
Your main responsibilities will include promoting effective patient flow and ensuring safe and effective patient placement. Broadly, you will manage the Trust's bed capacity and patient flow, and assist in achieving key performance and quality standards (e.g., emergency and elective admission access targets, single-sex accommodation, and infection control). You will also support safe staffing levels. Out of hours, you will have overall responsibility for the hospital site with support from the on-call senior manager and the executive on call.
The team covers the site 24/7, 365 days a year. The shift pattern consists of 12.5-hour shifts covering days and nights.
Applicants should be registered nurses with a master's degree or equivalent qualifications, demonstrable clinical experience, and significant experience at Band 7. Enhanced nursing and leadership skills, along with an understanding of current acute hospital performance indicators, are required. The post holder must demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills.
