The Package
* Starting salary of £18,500/year, increasing to the National Minimum/Living wage after 12 months if applicable
* 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays

Role Responsibilities
As a Construction Materials Technician apprentice, you'll work in a laboratory environment, testing construction materials such as concrete, aggregates, and asphalt. You'll be supported by experienced technicians and fellow apprentices, gaining hands-on experience that is often not available in traditional academic settings.
Your tasks will include:
* Testing properties of construction materials
* Improving existing products
* Implementing new testing technologies
* Understanding non-destructive testing methods
* Maintaining safety and quality standards
* Traveling to testing sites
Training and Career Development
You will undertake a 21-month Level 3 apprenticeship, focusing on safety, testing standards, equipment maintenance, and effective communication. Upon completion, career pathways include roles such as Senior Technician, Materials Engineer, Laboratory Manager, or Project Lead, with corresponding salary increases.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
We seek a focused, meticulous individual with a proactive attitude, good communication skills, and flexibility for shifts including nights and weekends. A manual driving license and access to a vehicle are required.
Qualifications are less important than enthusiasm, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. We value attitude and aptitude over academic results.
Application Process
The apprenticeship lasts 21 months, with a minimum of 6 hours per week dedicated to 'off the job' training, including virtual lessons, shadowing, mentoring, and assignments. You'll be mentored by industry experts to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and work habits.
