We have a unique and rewarding opportunity for a Teaching and Rehabilitation Assistant to join a dedicated team supporting a 6 year old child with Cerebral Palsy (CP) and learning difficulties, educated at home within the Giggleswick area. This is more than just a support role – it combines education support, rehabilitation and sensory – based learning to help a bright and engaging child achieve their full potential. You’ll be working closely with the child’s family, multidisciplinary therapy team, education professionals and a case manager, to support the child’s development, independence and overall wellbeing. Whether you have experience as a Teaching Assistant, Therapy Support Worker, or in care/rehabilitation, we welcome your application – full training and supervision will be provided. Your Responsibilities Will Include: Education & Sensory Support Deliver home- school teaching plans under the guidance of SEN specialists. Use multi- sensory techniques (visual, tactile, auditory, movement- based) to support learning. Adapt activities and resources to suit the child’s sensory and education needs. Therapy & Rehabilitation Implement therapy and sensory regulation programmes as directed by physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists. Support the child’s use of specialist equipment (e.g. walkers, standing frames, switches, communication aids). Help embed therapy goals into daily routines and learning tasks. ❤️ Social, Emotional & Cognitive Development Facilitate access to play and social opportunities in a sensory- aware and inclusive way. Use sensory- based strategies to encourage communication, confidence and emotional wellbeing. Teamwork & Communication Work in close collaboration with the family and professionals. Participate in reviews and contribute observations on progress and challenges. Maintain clear and accurate records of progress, activities and sensory responses. Administration & Professional Standards Ensure care and education plans are updated and followed. Follow all safeguarding, confidentiality and professional standards. Provide assistance with personal care if required. ________________________________________ What We’re Looking For: ✅ Essential Skills & Qualities: Willingness to learn and follow detailed guidance from therapists, teachers and parents. Strong interpersonal skills with empathy, patience and creativity. Clear verbal and written communication Awareness of professional boundaries, confidentiality and safeguarding. Team player with a flexible, problem- solving approach. Full UK driving licence Experience of working with EYFS (Early Years Approach/ philosophy), either within a specialist setting or mainstream provision. Ability to be dynamic and ‘go with the flow’, changing activities according to the child’s needs. ✏Desirable (but not essential – training can be provided): Experience of supporting children with physical disabilities, learning difficulties or sensory processing needs. Willingness to support with personal care. Experience working in a home/community setting NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Health & Social Care, or equivalent. Experience in educational, therapy, or support settings. Experience working in CQC or Ofsted – regulated settings Understanding of sensory processing, learning difficulties, and physical disabilities.
