Job Overview
The Senior Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex infrastructure projects across both offshore and onshore facilities. This role is responsible for managing a portfolio of network and technology driven projects ensuring all deliverables are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. The Senior Project Manager will coordinate the activities of internal teams, third party vendors, and client or contractor personnel, ensuring effective communication and adherence to established governance and change control processes. This position requires strong leadership, outstanding organisational capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The role also carries financial accountability for assigned projects, including cost tracking, forecasting, and ensuring accurate and timely customer billing.
Responsibilities
* Attendance at the Aberdeen office with opportunity for remote working. The role requires flexibility to travel locally within Aberdeen area, UK and occasional overseas visits.
* Lead and manage end to end project delivery, including development of project plans and associated communication material.
* Build and maintain strong effective relationships with internal teams, vendors, clients, and key stakeholders.
* Oversee major network and technology projects e.g. Communications installations, LAN, WAN, and Wi‑Fi refresh.
* Communicate project expectations clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner.
* Develop and deliver high quality project documentation including proposals, business cases, specifications and presentations for both internal and external audiences.
* Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in alignment with client needs and priorities.
* Maintain full financial oversight and accountability, including budget management, cost tracking, forecasting, and ensuring customer billing accuracy.
* Ensure adherence to change control processes and collaborate with compliance teams as required.
* Identify, assess, and escalation risks, issues, and impediments to ensure timely resolution.
* Establish clear expectations with team members and stakeholders throughout the project phases.
* Assign responsibilities effectively to optimise project execution and ensure high quality delivery.
* Resolve conflicts and issues within project teams to support a collaborative working environment.
* Produce regular status reports to keep stakeholders informed of progress, risks and financial position.
* Proactively manage changes to project scope and develop contingency plans to address potential challenges.
* Build, develop, and sustain business relationships essential to successful project delivery.
* Travel domestically or internationally up to approximately 15% as required.
Qualifications
* Considerable experience managing complex IT or infrastructure projects, ideally within industrial, offshore, or large scale enterprise environments.
* Demonstrated expertise in network technology projects (LAN/WAN/Wi‑Fi).
* Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and customer billing management.
* Proven ability to lead cross functional teams and manage third‑party vendors.
* Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
* Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PMBOK, PRINCE2, Agile).
* Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
* Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to perform under pressure while maintaining high integrity.
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Extensive, hands‑on experience working within a structured project management environment.
* Proven track record of successfully delivering infrastructure projects.
* PMP certification or equivalent project management credential.
* Demonstrated experience delivering projects within the energy sector.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders.
* Solid understanding of change control processes and governance frameworks.
* Proficient use of key applications including Microsoft Project, Excel, Word and Visio.
