Overview
Siemens Mobility, Northampton, England, United Kingdom. We are recruiting for a Technical Engineer to join our Rolling Stock business. Working from our Northampton site, you will be responsible for the investigation and resolution of technical, product safety and reliability issues associated with the platform, and for ensuring fleets operate in a safe, reliable, and cost-effective manner using the latest digital, engineering and maintenance techniques to maximise fleet reliability and availability.

Responsibilities
* Lead the investigation and resolution of technical, product safety, and reliability issues associated with the platform.
* Develop and document cost-effective solutions to improve product safety, reliability, and availability in line with relevant standards.
* Conduct thorough analysis of downloads and failures to identify root causes and support discussions with suppliers to exchange technical failure information and potential solutions.
* Interact with support functions and key suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of materials and services, participating in performance reviews when required.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of rolling stock and EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) systems.
* Support change control processes to manage modifications and improvements.
* Provide technical expertise and guidance to internal teams and stakeholders.
Qualifications
* HND / HNC / BTEC / CTEC qualification or higher in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent railway/rolling stock experience.
* Knowledge of railway maintenance techniques and procedures.
* Demonstrable knowledge of railway systems including reading mechanical and electrical drawings, systematic fault finding and problem identification.
* Ability to review, analyse, and interrogate technical reports.
* Ability to analyse train-borne event and fault diagnostic systems.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision, setting clear targets and deliverables to achieve project goals.
* Good communication skills (written and oral).
* Good knowledge of IT systems and software.
Desirable
* Experience in dealing with customers and suppliers.
* Good technical knowledge of the relevant rolling stock platform.
* Analytical techniques (5 Whys, SWOT, Design Thinking, etc.).
* Ability to provide leadership within a matrix organisation structure.
