Are you interested in food, nutrition and health, and looking to develop your care and compassion skills in a role supporting patients who are at risk of malnutrition? If so you may want to consider applying to join our Dietetic team based in Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary.
As a valued member of our friendly team, you will work with Dietitians and other health and care professionals to support the delivery of nutritional care to adult inpatients. Confidence speaking to people both in person and on the telephone will be an asset. A good level of numeracy and literacy are needed as you will be doing simple calculations regarding weight loss in addition to writing in the case notes and communicating via email. In return you will be supported in your training and development with regular supervision from the Dietitians. This is a permanent role over 25 hours per week. The work pattern will be discussed further at interview but hours to be worked over 5 days. Our dietetic team is friendly and supportive.
Responsibilities
• Support delivery of nutritional care to adult inpatients in collaboration with Dietitians and other health and care professionals.
• Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues in person and by telephone.
• Perform simple weight loss calculations and document findings in case notes; maintain clear written/electronic records.
Qualifications and Requirements
• Good numeracy and literacy skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly with patients and staff.
• Confidence in speaking with people in person and on the telephone.
• Willingness to undertake training and receive regular supervision from Dietitians.
Employment Details
This is a permanent role over 25 hours per week, with the work pattern to be discussed at interview (5 days). Location: Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary, Dumfries and Galloway. The Dietetic team is friendly and supportive.
