We are looking for a proactive and hands-on IT Support Technician to join our busy IT team, supporting a group of schools across the organisation. This role involves a combination of remote support and on-site deskside assistance, as well as participation in project work, infrastructure maintenance, and the deployment and configuration of devices and systems.
Reporting to the IT Manager, you will play an integral role within the IT Support Team, delivering a first-class service and ensuring that the needs of staff and students are met promptly and effectively.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar IT support role and will be responsible for providing 1st and 2nd line support, administering IT systems, and following established support processes. There will also be opportunities to contribute to technical project delivery, with a strong focus on security, resilience, and proactive problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and act as the first point of contact for IT-related issues across all school sites via the service desk, phone, and in person.
* Provide first line diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution for hardware, software, and network issues.
* Escalate unresolved incidents to second line or external support partners where required.
* Support the setup, maintenance, and deployment of laptops, desktops, iPads, Chromebooks, and other devices.
* Assist with user account management in Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and Google Workspace.
* Maintain accurate documentation, asset records, and service desk tickets.
* Support the maintenance and monitoring of network infrastructure, printers, and classroom technology.
* Ensure that IT security, safeguarding, and data protection procedures are followed at all times.
* Travel to multiple school sites as required to deliver on-site support and scheduled maintenance.
Essential experience and skills
* Strong PC hardware/software troubleshooting skills
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in IT Support.
* Good standards of written and verbal English
* Ability to follow procedures/policies within an education setting
* Ability to work as part of a team and independently
* Can work under pressure and prioritise effectively
* Full Driving License and access to own vehicle
* Willing to travel nationally
Desirable experience and skills
* Knowledge of firewalls, switches, and VPNs
* Knowledge in Esport\Gaming System Setups
* Knowledge in the Department For Education standards.
