An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Stoma Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Stoma Team at the Royal Gwent Hospital.
The post holder must be a Registered Nurse and is therefore bound by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct for Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors.
The post holder is a clinical expert and is guided by general health, organisation and occupational policies.
You will assess, develop and implement a specialist nursing care programme for Stoma patients.
Main duties of the job
Provide specialist nursing service using his/ her knowledge to facilitate high quality specialist care to Stoma patients.
Work as an autonomous practitioner to interpret, communicate and act on findings, referring patients for furtherinvestigation and, or treatment where appropriate.
Works as a member of the multidisciplinary team providing supervision and leadership contributing to the delivery of a specialist service working alongside and supporting the Consultants
Use complex reasoning, critical thinking, reflection, and analysis on healthcare issues to aid assessment, clinical judgements, diagnostics (currently under guidance), and treatment decisions.
Provide evidence of practice and innovative service development, including taking a lead in the development andimplementation of policy, national frameworks, and quality improvement.
Engage in flexible, cross-boundary partnership working, facilitating communication, and understanding betweenindividuals, groups, professions, and managers.
Identify own and others personal development needs and take effective action to address them.
Independently break bad news / give feedback of results to the patient while supporting them and their family / carers and offer counselling when explaining diagnoses.
The CNS will contribute to the operational and strategic development of the service and will be responsible in ensuring that the professional standards are maintained.
