Milberg London was established in 2020 as an independent law firm focused exclusively on claimant litigation. Our partners have all previously worked at Jones Day, Freshfields, Pinsent Masons, Dechert, Clyde & Co, Paul Hastings and Mishcon de Reya over the last 15 years before establishing their own firm. We specialise in large-scale consumer group actions against corporate defendants. We are looking to expand our Competition Litigation practice and are seeking to recruit a competition paralegal to join our London team and work with partner and head of the practice, Natasha Pearman.
The Competition Litigation practice is focusing on collective actions regarding abuse of dominance, cartel damages, and other antitrust litigation in the UK courts and Competition Appeal Tribunal and coordinating competition litigation on a worldwide basis. In November 2023, our case against Sony was the first consumer claim of its kind to achieve certification for its funding arrangements in light of the Supreme Court ruling in the PACCAR case.
Key responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive support to the competition team
* Prepare and manage legal documents relevant to client cases.
* Conduct and document thorough legal research.
* Prepare court bundles.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
* Attending: such things as meetings with clients, departmental meetings, departmental training, conferences with counsel and seminars as required.
Key skills and qualifications
* Strong organisational and planning skills
* Ability to work independently or within as team
* strong communication skills
* Law degree, GDL or similar
* Strong academic history (at least 2:1 or equivalent from a reputable university)
* Experience of using Opus
* Experience creating court bundles
Career progression to trainee/newly qualified solicitor is available in due course subject to performance.
