The opportunity: We are seeking a Paralegal to join our highly-regarded Intellectual Property team at Baker McKenzie, Belfast. The successful candidate will support the Firm's IP practice, handling high volumes of IP prosecution, maintenance, and transactional work in a deadline-driven environment. You will work on international IP portfolios, requiring a global mindset and the ability to coordinate effectively with diverse teams worldwide.
The role involves working with various professionals across cultures and teams, supporting senior staff, and managing IP-related tasks such as formalities, due diligence, anti-counterfeiting programs, and legal document drafting. The position offers an opportunity to develop specialized IP knowledge within a global law firm committed to diversity, inclusion, and employee well-being.
Main Responsibilities
* Support global IP practice on various matters including trademark formalities, prosecution, maintenance, and renewal.
* Prepare client reports independently.
* Assist with global IP M&A activities, including recordals and legal document drafting.
* Conduct comprehensive IP asset due diligence using official registries and databases.
* Support anti-counterfeiting initiatives, including seizure notifications and liaising with infringers.
* Perform trademark searches and monitoring services.
* Develop legal expertise to support firm lawyers and clients.
* Maintain and implement established procedures, meet service standards, and manage deadlines effectively.
Essential Criteria
* Relevant undergraduate degree with 2.1 or above.
* Legal background with IP or trademark experience preferred.
* Authorization to work in the UK.
Desirable Criteria
* CITMA qualification is an advantage.
