Location: Deangate Nursing Home, Towngate, Mapplewell
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to Residents in our Residential home. Your primary focus will be on enhancing the quality of life for our Residents by assisting with daily activities and ensuring their comfort and well-being. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a genuine passion for helping others.
Responsibilities
* Ensure the highest possible levels of care by supporting/assisting People in our Care with daily living tasks (washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, etc.)
* Assist with physical, emotional and spiritual care needs, ensuring comfort and dignity
* Support People with limited mobility or other difficulties, using aids provided
* Monitor People who may be confused or have behavioural issues
* Assist in promoting continence
* Deliver care for People who are dying or have progressive illnesses; assist with last offices
* Observe care planning needs and complete written daily records per policies
* Support social activities and help residents continue with hobbies and activities
* Respond to Nursecall, door, and telephone requests promptly; pass on messages
* Report on residents’ well-being under supervision of senior staff
* Carry out regular checks on People at intervals set by senior staff
* Make Visitors feel welcome; provide refreshments/assistance as required
* Make and change beds; keep rooms clean and tidy; manage waste as per policy
* Clean and maintain equipment; protect residents’ clothing and valuables as appropriate
* Maintain privacy and dignity for the dying and bereaved as per policy
* Assist during meals, consider swallowing difficulties and dietary requirements; set/clear tables
* Escort residents to activities, appointments, and outings
* Practice integrity in all dealings with residents
* Assist with safe moving and handling when rearranging rooms or furniture
Qualifications
Skills, knowledge and qualifications
* Required
* Genuine interest in working within a caring environment
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
* Team player
* Willingness to participate in Vocational Training Programmes
* Satisfactory Police Check and check against the POVA List (where applicable)
* Desired
* Relevant Vocational Qualification (achieved / working towards)
* Experience of working with the relevant Client group
Training And Development
* Maintain professional knowledge and competence
* Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as required
* Participate in relevant N/SVQ training to achieve required qualifications
Health And Safety
* Report illness or accidents involving residents, colleagues or self
* Understand and implement the Care Home’s Health and Safety policy and emergency procedures
* Report faulty appliances or hazards to the Home Manager
* Promote safe working practices and the good reputation of the Care Home
* Maintain confidentiality of information
* Notify absence in advance and return to work after periods of absence
* Ensure security of the Care Home at all times
* Adhere to company policies and keep equipment clean and well maintained
* Carry out other tasks as reasonably assigned
