Overview
BT Group, Feltham, England, United Kingdom. The role is Customer Engineer - Field Engineer (Heathrow). You’ll maintain and support our contract with British Airways (IAG) Data & Voice network services at Heathrow. You’ll be part of a team of 20 engineers at Heathrow Airport; however, your primary role will be as a Customer Engineer responding to reported incidents such as voice telephone faults on Cisco phones. This is a technical, hands-on role with on-site work at Heathrow (08:00 – 16:00) and occasional tasks at London City and Gatwick airports and several data centres across London. This role may require ad hoc out-of-hours work for which overtime will be paid.
Location: 30 minute commutable distance primarily to Heathrow (daily), Monday – Friday. Mandatory requirement: 5-year checkable work history (critical for Airside access) and ability to pass a criminal record check and UK Manual Driving Licence.
Key Responsibilities
* Preventive maintenance checks.
* Staging new network equipment on Juniper and Cisco switches.
* Staging & building Cisco phones
* Cisco and Juniper system maintenance
* Network patching
* Assist with fault-finding
* Stock Control and Asset Management
* There is an opportunity to develop & qualify for CCST & CCNA.
Skills and Experience You\'ll Have
* Customer service skills
* Able to explain issues/solutions to non-technical customers
* Work through problems logically
* Willingness to learn new systems and technologies
* Strong ability to self-organize and manage your time
* Prior experience with IT Networks is desirable
* Prior experience with other telephony solutions is desirable
* UK Manual driver\'s licence
* 5-year checkable work history (critical for Airside access)
* Able to pass a criminal record check
