Description Due to ongoing project growth and the position of Cost Engineer is required on a landmark Energy project in Teesside As the Senior Cost Engineer you will work within the project controls team and be responsible for cost control and forecasting. You will have a central role in the application for payment, earned value management and weekly and monthly reporting. Providing insight into variances between planned and actual costs and recommendations for mitigations. You will use your knowledge and experience to support the most efficient and effective delivery of the project. The role is based in Teesside with a requirement to be on site as a minimum 3 days a week. At Costain, we believe diverse perspectives drive innovation. LI-AW1 Responsibilities Responsibilities Control, monitor, analyse and report cost related aspects for designated projects within a Portfolio. Ensure all cost and contract transactions on a project are understood and managed in an appropriate way. Continually monitor Project Risk and Change status to maintain current forecast. Liaise with Project team members and contractors with regards to progress and cost forecasting. Monitor, control and analyse the project cost information, identify variances, and bring these to the attention of the Project Manager with possible alternatives. Prepare specific reports to facilitate challenge and analysis to meet the project’s specific needs. Challenge cost variances against the baseline plan with individual task leaders/contractors and/or outside stakeholder management as necessary to enable mitigation. Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Understand the inter-relationship between time cost and commercial aspects of the project life cycle. Experience across whole project and programme lifecycle. (e.g., Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation/Commissioning processes). Proficient in the interpretation of Earned Value Analysis. Excellent MS Office skills and well versed in the preparation of reports and information using packages such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience across whole project and programme lifecycle. (e.g., Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation/Commissioning processes). Desirable Working knowledge of Primavera Experienced in the use of Finance and Project software. Working knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation.
