Job Description: Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene Manager

This role leads Occupational Health & Industrial Hygiene across the business, managing the OH team while driving compliance, performance and best practice. It's a fast-paced, high-profile position requiring collaboration with colleagues at all levels, external specialists, insurers and clients. You'll interpret complex legislation, shape policy, and deliver practical solutions that protect health and wellbeing. Success means building trust, influencing with and without authority, adapting quickly, and creating a safe, healthy workplace for employees, contractors and visitors alike.

Key Responsibilities

* Ensure that OH and IH programs comply with Altrad, industry, and regulatory requirements.
* Develop, implement, and oversee AIS's IH monitoring and health surveillance programs.
* Maintain and develop AIS's OH and IH management system in line with ISO standards.
* Partner with external occupational health providers to deliver contracted OH and IH services.
* Oversee the running of AIS's internal occupational health facility.
* Lead, mentor, and develop AIS's internal occupational health team.
* Create and deliver strategic health and wellbeing improvement programs.
* Collaborate with the HSEQ function to create and deliver safe systems of work and health protection strategies.
* Work with operational teams to identify, manage and control workplace health hazards.
* Support incident investigations, perform root cause analysis and deliver lessons learned for occupational illnesses and health related incidents.
* Collaborate with the HR function to design and implement fitness for work, sickness absence, and return to work systems.
* Identify, track and report OH and IH key performance indicators.
* Collaborate with internal (e.g. operations, HR, HSEQ) and external (e.g. clients, regulators, industry bodies) stakeholders to protect and improve overall business practices.
* Drive and promote a proactive and inclusive OH and IH safety culture across all levels of the organisation.
* Deliver quality assurance, business continuity, and continual improvement across all areas of influence.

Skills

Education & Training

* Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field.
* Professional certification/membership, such as IOSH, NEBOSH, BOHS, or equivalent.
* Ability to evidence continual professional development in field of OH and IH.

Experience

* Minimum of 5 years in occupational health &/or industrial hygiene management role.
* Proven experience managing OH and IH programs in an industrial setting.
* Proven experience working with external stakeholders; such as industry bodies, clients, and regulators.

Skills

* Strong understanding of UK HSEQ, OH, and IH regulations, standards and best practices.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
* Ability to influence stakeholders and drive cultural change.
* Able to prioritise tasks and work effectively independently, or as part of a team.
