Role: Senior Officer (Business Development)
Location: GCHSCP, Commonwealth House, 32 Albion Street, Glasgow, G1 1LH
Contract Status: Temporary, up to 18 months
We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to work for the largest local authority in Scotland, in partnership with the NHS, to help ensure the data rights of our service users, past and present.
The Complaints, Freedom of Information (FOI), and Investigations Team (CFIT) within the Business Development section of Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP) handles complaints administration and responses, FOI responses, and duties under the Data Protection Act 2018, including providing guidance on Data Protection matters.
We seek a dedicated individual to manage a new temporary specialist team within CFIT for up to 18 months. This role offers a chance to develop managerial skills, enhance knowledge in social work and UK data protection legislation, and positively impact vulnerable people's lives.
Candidates should have substantial experience in Data Protection work, with knowledge supporting the interpretation and application of Data Protection legislation, preferably with some understanding of Social Work Services and related legislation. The ideal candidate will be organized, meticulous, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical skills to identify issues and resolve sensitive information requests professionally and empathetically are essential. Line management experience is desirable but not essential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Managing a small team performing complex redaction activities in line with statutory requirements.
2. Developing and implementing processes compliant with UK data protection legislation.
3. Engaging in meaningful work supporting vulnerable individuals.
4. Ensuring confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
5. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver statutory duties.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on challenges, wishes to expand expertise in social work and data protection, and aims to develop as a manager. You will lead a dedicated team ensuring the data rights of current and former social work service users, gaining valuable experience and skills to support your career progression in Data Protection management.
Candidates should be educated to SCQF level 6 or equivalent or have relevant experience. Please refer to the Person Specification for full qualification, skills, knowledge, and competency requirements.
This role is excepted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).
