Lead CNC Machinist – Day shift (Days Mon-Thurs 10 hours)
to join our team working for a better future.
The position is permanent, and the location is in Havant, Portsmouth.
What you will be doing
Operation and programming of 5 Axis CNC Machining Centres for the manufacture of high precision, high quality, and low volume machined parts used in the assembly of critical system supplied to the maritime industry.
As Lead CNC Machinist, your work will focus on these responsibilities:
1. Responsible for Machining of parts on 5 Axis CNC Machining Centres
2. Stropping, lifting and loading materials (use of slings and overhead cranes)
3. Working to engineering drawings and creating and modifying CNC programmes
4. Lead program and process improvement activities to improve quality and reduce cycle time
5. Support tooling and fixturing set-up, design, and trials
6. Lead CNC program prove-out and 1st off activities
7. Parts measurement and inspection activities
8. Train, support and coach other machine operators
9. Ensuring product quality and conformance to specification
10. Perform machine TPM activities and ensure good area housekeeping
11. Work safely in line with the companies Health and Safety policy
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
12. HNC/ HND
13. Operation of Mazak CNC 5 Axis Machine Centres
14. Experience of creating and modifying CNC Programmes using Mazatrol
15. Understand Health & Safety environment/procedures
16. Working from Engineering drawings
17. Use of measuring equipment including verniers, stick mic's & probes
18. Setup and machining of castings; using dial indicators and probes
19. Manual Handling, slinging and lifting, and use of cranes
20. Train, coach and supporting other machinists
Desirable experience would include:
21. 5 years (min) Engineering experience within the manufacturing industry
22. 5 years (min) CNC Programming knowledge
23. Modern Tool Cutting knowledge
24. CAM experience (Mastercam & Edgecam)
25. CI experience (Lean 7 wastes)
26. Safety / 5S work ethic
27. Computer Literate (Microsoft)
28. Manual Handling, slinging and lifting, and use of cranes up to 3T
