This role is based in the UK and will be working on site in our UK based College. In order to comply with our mandatory pre-employment checks, the successful candidate will be required to provide original identification documents in person to our UK based People Services Department. This role is pro rata so the salary you will be receiving is £24,525.09 per annum. For any roles that start part way through the academic year, the annual salary will be pro rata to the remaining months. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (i.e. the College). By applying for this position, you agree to an Enhanced DBS check in line with DBS regulations. https://blob.wcg.ac.uk/pdf/child-protection-procedure-a5e67894d353c2adb6ac53c08ce6e758.pdf BACKGROUND TO THE POST WCG is looking for a proactive and organised Senior Technician to play a crucial role in the smooth running of our catering department. This isn't just a maintenance role; you'll be ensuring our kitchens are always ready for action. Your responsibilities will include ordering and managing stock, completing vital risk assessments to maintain a safe environment, and setting up kitchens so our teaching staff and students have everything they need for practical sessions and daily service. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Working with the Head of School (HOS) to ensure the kitchens, restaurant and teaching areas within Catering are appropriately managed. • Preparation of kitchens for classes and provide technical support for lecturers at end of lessons to ensure students maintain health and safety procedures. • Dispense stock and equipment at the beginning of lessons and ensure their return. Monitor and maintain a high standard of cleanliness. • Maintain stock levels. Order and check delivery of stock, record temperatures to meet industry requirements. • Responsible for, carrying out measures to protect public health, which includes the administration and enforcement of legislation related to environmental health and safety hazards. • Source appropriate equipment and materials. • Check and report any broken equipment or unsafe furniture, assist in the preparation of Health & Safety risk assessments, review of COSHH reports and first aid responsibilities. • Assist with reception, bookings, computer system, liaises with customers and visitors. Provide technical support for students. • Deal with course enquiries, arrange student interviews and where appropriate carry out student interviews. • Support full-time and part-time staff in the area. • Liaise with the Front of House Co-ordinator to delegate duties to ensure the smooth running of the kitchens and restaurant. • Liaise with Manufacturers to organise staff and student training to comply with awarding body standards. • Source and negotiate student kit and uniforms. • Organise, plan and monitor student’s trips including preparation of risk assessments. • Assist with first aid as and when required in the area. • To attend college delivered ‘Teaching Essentials’ training In order to support during busy exam periods, you may be asked to undertake exam invigilator duties. The College will provide training. The list of duties is not exhaustive but outlines the main features of the post at appointment and may vary as the job evolves without affecting the nature of the duties or the responsibility level. ESSENTIAL ATTAINMENTS ✓Either GCSE Grade C or above in English and Mathematics or Level 2 equivalent/higher qualification ✓Experience of using Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel and Outlook. ✓Excellent administrative and organisational skills ✓Working knowledge of information technology such as e-mail, the internet and other software applications. ✓Previous experience in Catering or Hospitality ✓Previous experience working with young persons in the broad context of education ✓Knowledge of stock taking ✓First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake
