What you will do
To provide product marketing support to the Marketing and Sales team in the delivery of all aspects of existing products and new product launches for the allocated product portfolio within the EMEA region
How you will do it
· Own the product development function and manage the process end to end for all product introductions across assigned category
· Manage the effective commercialisation of new products, working with Sales on clear Go-to-Market plans by market
· Provide market intelligence to build an intimate knowledge of the consumer segments, markets and competitors
· Work closely with Sales Team on Category Management & Commercial Planning
Main responsibilities
This role will be suitable for someone who is currently in a junior product marketing position who is looking to make their step into product management.
You will own the product development function and manage the process end to end for all product introductions across assigned category
· Take ownership of the smooth running of the EMEA product management function. Drive the product development process, providing leadership to the cross functional team to deliver projects OTIF.
· Identify and drive key initiatives with respect to consumer facing collateral (e.g. packaging, digital user manual, how to guides etc) to offer a best-in-class product experience.
· Manage development and execution of impactful packaging, ensuring that all packs are not only physically fit for purpose but that they deliver first class communication messages and are in line with brand guidelines.
· Manage development and execution of assets for product launch, including photography, ATF and BTF assets, sizzle videos, how to videos and localisation for EU. Brief external agencies but also brief internal digital and ecomms teams for launch.
· Work with the Sales teams to prepare business cases and scenarios to justify new product development investment. Report on performance tracking against plan at the relevant times.
· Measure the efficacy of the live portfolio and new product launches and monitor in- market performance, benchmarking targets, competitors, markets. Report on product performance and making recommendations for product lifecycle management.
· Maintain and keep up to date the live Assortment Plans, communicating any changes and transition plans to key stakeholders at the relevant touchpoints.
· Pricing architecture: Manage new product cost data and quotes, ensuring communication and sign off to maintain profit margin requirements. Maintain and communicate costs to wider commercial team.
· Product Information Management; Manage product data requirements; from collection of relevant data to accurate input and distribution in a timely manner.
· Work with Global Business Units to look for efficiencies and collaborations across markets.
Manage the effective commercialisation of new products, working with Sales on clear Go-to-Market plans by market
· Prepare comprehensive selling stories and sell-in kits at the time of launching to internal Sales team.
· Support Sales team in preparation and delivery of customer presentations in capacity of product and category expert.
· Assist the Marketing Manager in creation of compelling launch materials in conjunction for new product launches.
· Product training – act as a category expert and be able to train internal and external stakeholders, as required, on all aspects of the live product portfolio.
· Manage availability of product samples and selling tool kits in line with launch plan dates.
· Work with individual markets to localise execution of new product launches as required.
· Manage stakeholders in delivery of GTM plans.
Provide market intelligence to build an intimate knowledge of the consumer segments, markets and competitors.
· Continually monitor key competitor activities, share findings with key stakeholders and make recommendations.
* Conduct ongoing research of markets, using external and internal data sources to develop a deep understanding of markets.
· Act as voice of consumer, mapping all customer segments and utilising findings to help guide product and marketing communications strategy and tactics.
· Scout macro trends to influence product road and communication activities.
· Manage any specific research projects as required.
Work closely with Sales Team on Category Management & Commercial Planning
· Assist Sales teams in product positioning and category mapping by key market, including price positioning, category size, IB market share, key products, gaps, revenue, margin etc.
· Working closely with Sales to understand specific market requirements and drive creative and effective marketing led sales initiatives to deliver brand growth.
· Work with Sales to identify promotions and coop marketing activity to drive sell-out & increase brand awareness.
· Report on category performance and present relevant category information at sales, marketing, and management meetings.
Other
· Budget administration – manage and record costs incurred, ensuring these are maintained within allocated budget.
· Manage all external agencies involved in the product development process.
· Support Marketing Manager in creation of copy and content for all product centric collateral (trade & consumer)
· Provide support for ad-hoc tasks & projects as required.
· Ensure that all brand communication material in all markets is produced and implemented in line with the brand guidelines to ensure a consistent international message.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
* Highly creative and experience of working in a fast-paced environment
* Product marketing experience within FMCG/consumer durables or equivalent
· Strong commercial mindset and analytic ability
* Attention to detail and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects at a time, with a track record of delivering detailed projects on time
* Excellent all-round communicator – (English, written and oral)
· Strong IT skills with the ability to analyse, absorb, reflect and respond to data/information
* Ability to network across various functions
· Highly creative – the ability to develop sales angles and sales stories and then build on their effective execution.
· Strong presentation & interpersonal skills. Some experience in the Sales discipline would be beneficial
· Passion for food/cooking and knowledge of trends in this sector
Desirable:
· Experience in e-commerce; Knowledge of modern retail distribution, both store based and web based, and the tools that can be developed to maximise brand impact at point of sale.
· Broad knowledge of UK and European retail.
· Multi-lingual.
