About us
We are an award-winning not for profit housing association that currently owns over 9,000 homes across County Durham. We offer more than just a home. We help improve the lives of the people living in our homes and in our places. We work hard to make sure those homes are high quality, sustainable and adaptable, while meeting tenants’ current and future aspirations. We offer support that help people into work and training and increase their financial confidence and stability.
Our Plan A sets out our strategy for a realistic path to success. It's flexible. It can cope with the things we do not yet know. Importantly it’s cohesive, ensuring we are working together with our teams, partners, tenants and residents to maximise the impact we can make by improving lives through the provision of sustainable homes and places.
About the role
As a Legal & Governance Coordinator, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the smooth and effective operation of our legal and governance services. Working closely with our Solicitor, Trainee Solicitor and Governance Manager, you’ll provide high quality legal and administrative support across a broad range of activities, including right to buy and right to acquire applications, court and possession processes, governance administration and data protection requests.
You’ll be trusted with confidential and sensitive information, supporting legal processes, managing documentation and coordinating key governance activity such as Board and Committee meetings. This is a varied and rewarding role that offers real insight into legal, regulatory and governance work within a housing environment.
You’ll be joining a supportive and professional team where accuracy, organisation and attention to detail really matter, and where your contribution helps ensure strong governance, compliance and decision making across the organisation. As we continue to explore savings through smart use of Artificial Intelligence, you’ll be encouraged to think creatively about how we explore the potential of AI to reduce clerical overload and free your time for activities that add value to our customers and our business. ‑making across the organisation.
About you
You’ll be well suited to this role if you’re highly organised, dependable and comfortable managing detailed administrative work in a busy environment. You’ll have strong written and verbal communication skills and be confident working with legal or regulatory information that may be complex or sensitive.
You’ll bring a professional, discreet approach, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, Board members and external partners. A proactive mindset is important, as you’ll often be juggling priorities, coordinating activity and ensuring deadlines are met.
Experience in a legal, governance or regulated environment is beneficial, but what matters most is your attention to detail, your values and your commitment to doing things efficiently and with the customer foremost in tour mind. You’ll also be keen to embrace digital ways of working and contribute to continuous improvement as we modernise and evolve our services.
