Role Overview
We’re looking for an experienced CADCAM CNC Programmer to join our manufacturing team. You’ll be programming complex 4‑ and 5‑axis components, supporting new product introductions, improving machining processes, and helping develop the skills of junior team members. Strong CADCAM skills and multi‑axis machining knowledge are essential.
Key Responsibilities
CADCAM Programming
* Create high‑quality CNC programs for complex 4‑ and 5‑axis parts using CADCAM systems (e.g., CATIA V5, Hypermill).
* Meet cycle time, quality, and delivery targets.
* Carry out full prove‑outs and manage the process until handover to Production.
* Develop efficient toolpaths, machining strategies, and fixture designs.
Technical Support & Mentoring
* Provide guidance and hands‑on support to junior programmers and operators.
* Share best practices and help improve overall programming standards.
* Support problem solving and continuous improvement activities.
Process Improvement
* Follow internal standards, NPI processes, and quality procedures.
* Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce cycle times, and enhance tooling.
* Work with tooling suppliers to introduce the best solutions.
Project Ownership
* Lead customer jobs from programming through to production readiness.
* Provide regular progress updates to managers and customers.
* Support NPI and production teams with technical input.
Software & Documentation
* Support CADCAM software development and digital tools.
* Create and maintain machining standards, programming procedures, and engineering documentation.
* Promote consistent programming practices across the team
Skills & Experience
* Recognized engineering apprenticeship or degree.
* 3+ years’ CADCAM programming experience for multi‑axis CNC machining.
* Skilled in any major CADCAM package, with willingness to learn others.
* Strong understanding of machining strategies, and fixture/workholding design.
* Proven experience in prove‑outs and cycle time optimization.
* Familiarity with structured manufacturing systems
* Strong communication and mentoring skills.
* Experience with CATIA V5 or Hypermill for 5‑axis machining.
* Customer‑facing technical project experience.
* Background in aerospace, defence, or other precision environments.
* Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma principles.
* Ability to develop team‑wide standards and documentation.
