The Role: This role offers a stimulating and varied caseload, focused on emergency and critical care, inpatient management, and A&E presentations. The successful Veterinary Surgeon will take clinical responsibility for hospitalised patients, delivering high-quality medical care and coordinating treatment alongside a skilled multidisciplinary team. Key duties include: Managing emergency and critical care cases presenting through the A&E service Overseeing inpatient care and treatment plans Performing emergency procedures where appropriate Collaborating closely with veterinary surgeons, nurses, and support staff Communicating compassionately with clients during challenging and emotional situations This position is ideally suited to a Veterinary Surgeon passionate about ECC, hospital medicine, and continuous clinical development. Skills and Experience Required: The successful candidate will be: A qualified Veterinary Surgeon (RCVS registered or eligible) Confident managing complex medical cases, with some surgical experience Highly motivated to develop technical and clinical skills A strong team player who enjoys a collaborative, high-energy hospital environment Compassionate and professional when dealing with clients under pressure Desirable (but not essential): Certificate in Emergency and Critical Care The Practice: The hospital is a 24/7 RCVS accredited small animal hospital, providing high-quality veterinary care to pets across Shrewsbury, Shropshire, and surrounding areas.
