Overview
Be among the first 25 applicants. Apollo is a specialised independent (re)insurer, established in 2009, to deliver top-tier products and services to clients, brokers, and capital partners at Lloyd's. Apollo aims to enable a resilient and sustainable world through diverse talent and innovative solutions.
Your Role
Assistant In-House Lawyer: you will support Apollo's Head of Legal in delivering clear, practical, and commercially focused legal advice across the business. This includes underwriting, claims, operations, and corporate functions, helping to ensure that all activity remains compliant with relevant laws, regulations, and Lloyd's frameworks. This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad legal exposure within a fast-paced Lloyd's environment and to shape Apollo's governance, regulatory, and contractual frameworks.
What You Will Do
* Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including supplier, service, outsourcing, and distribution contracts.
* Provide advice on policy wordings, endorsements, and reinsurance documentation.
* Support the Head of Legal with governance, corporate, and regulatory documentation.
* Advise internal stakeholders on legal and regulatory obligations under the FCA, PRA, and Lloyd's frameworks.
* Manage and instruct external counsel, ensuring alignment with business priorities and cost efficiency.
* Maintain and develop legal templates, playbooks, and guidance materials to ensure consistency and efficiency.
* Contribute to legal and regulatory training across the business.
* Monitor legal, regulatory, and market developments, providing concise updates to key stakeholders.
What We Are Looking For
* Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with around two years' post-qualification experience gained in-house or within a recognised insurance, financial services, or corporate practice.
* Proven experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
* Understanding of the Lloyd's or wider insurance market, and its regulatory environment.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, balancing technical precision with commercial pragmatism.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to provide clear advice to non-legal audiences.
* Collaborative, proactive, and professional, with sound judgement and integrity.
