Catering Assistant (Ward Host)

CHoICEFacilities Services are seeking passionate, hardworking & reliableindividual to join our team & fulfil the role of Catering Assistants (WardHost). You would be responsible for assisting clinical staff inthe efficient & effective production & service of a high quality of meals& beverages for patients, staff & visitors, includingassociated cleaning & hygiene related duties. The role is ward based & involves collecting and delivering meals for patients and can bephysically demanding.
We have 3 roles:
19.5hours per week - 7am-2pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday - Sunderland Royal Hospital
16 hours per week - 4pm-8pm Monday to Thursday - Sunderland Royal Hospital
25 Hours per week - 9.45am - 2.45pm Monday to Friday - Sunderland Eye Infirmary initially

Main duties of the job
General dutiesof a Catering Assistant (Ward Host) role includes;
To followfood & beverage handling procedures, in accordance with national and localregulations.
Undertakestock management, receipt and delivery of stock, reporting any discrepancies ordamaged goods to Supervisors. Record food temperatures and food waste beforeand after service
Maintain theappropriate knowledge and skills to safely and effectively perform all food& beverage tasks.
Maintain aclean, tidy and hygienic appearance. Ensuring that the appropriate protectiveclothing is worn at all times.
Distribution,delivery and service of food and beverages to wards and departments.
Ensuring allequipment, working areas, including storerooms, refrigerators and freezers arekept in a clean and hygienic condition and that good hygienic practices areestablished and maintained at all times.
Carry out anyother duties which are deemed reasonable and in line with the banding of thepost.
Providing afood and beverage service including catering for special events to patient,staff and visitors.
Preparing,assembling and packing meals for patients and staff.
Collection,segregation and disposal of waste materials, in accordance with policies.
CHoICE CateringServices are provided at Sunderland Royal Hospital & Sunderland EyeInfirmary.

Person Specification
Experience
* Good understanding of catering services
* Catering Experience
* Experience of working in a healthcare environment
* Experience in production environment
* Experience of cash/card payment handling
* Previous experience in dealing with the public
Skills and Knowledge
* Ability to accept and prioritise instructions
* Previous knowledge of catering environment
Physical Skills
* Combination of bending/lifting/standing and walking with frequent requirement for physical effort.
Qualifications
* Basic Numeracy and Literacy education
* Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
