The Role
Nu Quantum is seeking an experienced digital design engineer to accelerate the development of our novel photonic quantum networking solution. You will be working with a world-class team of scientists and engineers to design and develop a scalable control system capable of multi-node orchestration. You will be joining a small multi-skilled control team and will be responsible for all aspects of the project lifecycle from specification, design, verification and lab bring-up of electronics.
Responsibilities
o Take ownership of projects from specification to delivery
o Liaise with physicists, optics and electronics engineers to drive system specifications
o Develop RTL designs taking ownership for design and verification tasks
o Implementation on Xilinx FPGAs
Requirements
Your Skills, Qualifications and Experience
o Degree-level qualification in electronics, computer science or related subject.
o 6-10 years of experience in FPGA design using Verilog/SV/VHDL
o Knowledge of the full design cycle from specification through to timing sign-off
o Experience with industry standard digital simulators
o Experience of building verification environments using SV or Cocotb
o Experience using Xilinx Zynq-7000, MPSoC or RFSoC devices
o Experience in bringing up software applications or Linux on Xilinx Zynq devices
o Experience of building Petalinux or Yocto Linux kernels
o Experience of writing Linux device drivers
o Scripting of tool flows using Python and pytest
Other (Desirable but not required)
o Experience in writing embedded firmware in C/Rust
o Experience in writing network applications using sockets/gRPC
o Knowledge of networking protocols and packet processing
o Knowledge of PTP, SyncE, White Rabbit
