Location: Superdrug Head Office
Hours: 37.5 | 9.00am - 5.30pm — Hybrid with 2 days working from home and 3 days in our stylish, modern and collaborative office close to East Croydon Station

Day to Day Responsibilities

* Leading the development, implementation, and expansion of in‑house health clinic services, ensuring all services are clinically robust, safe, evidence‑based, and fully aligned with regulatory and professional standards.
* Acting as the Responsible Supervising Clinician for Yellow Fever services, ensuring full compliance with national standards, maintaining accreditation requirements, and providing clinical oversight to safeguard high‑quality patient care.
* Working collaboratively with the healthcare, operations and trading teams to design, implement, and continuously optimise new and existing clinical service offerings, ensuring they meet customer needs and commercial objectives while maintaining patient safety.
* Providing advanced clinical expertise and input into service expansion decisions, including advising on clinical models, risk management and patient pathways to support safe and effective service delivery.
* Playing a key role in shaping and influencing the strategic direction of Superdrug’s clinic services portfolio, supporting innovation, service growth, and alignment with wider organisational priorities.
* Supporting the embedding of robust clinical governance frameworks within clinic services, ensuring that all new developments are delivered with appropriate safeguards, training and oversight mechanisms in place.
* Evaluating service performance, patient outcomes and clinical quality to drive continuous improvement and innovation across the clinic portfolio.
* Acting as a clinical leader and subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to internal stakeholders on matters relating to medicines and clinic‑based care.


Key Responsibilities

* Lead on the creation, development and continuous improvement of clinic‑based healthcare services.
* Strategically develop in‑house clinic services in collaboration with the healthcare services team.
* Review, authorise, write and sign off Patient Group Directions (PGDs) and Patient Specific Directions (PSDs) in line with legal, regulatory and professional frameworks.
* Act as the subject matter expert and provide complex clinical advice and decision‑making support across clinic services.
* Develop, review and approve clinic policies, procedures and guidance documentation.
* Support regulatory compliance across all health clinic services.
* Represent the organisation at external stakeholder groups, professional forums and conferences.
* Contribute to and support clinical governance frameworks and assurance processes.
* Manage the health clinics development cost centre, ensuring effective budget oversight and resource utilisation.


Safeguarding Our Patients

* Ensure the design, development and delivery of clinic services consistently operate in line with all relevant regulatory, legal and professional requirements.
* Embed and support robust clinical governance processes to maintain high standards of patient safety, clinical effectiveness and quality of care across all clinic services.
* Provide clinical leadership in the review and investigation of incidents, complaints and near misses, ensuring timely identification of root causes, implementation of corrective actions and sharing of learning to prevent recurrence.
* Ensure all PGDs, policies and clinical procedures are safe, evidence‑based, up‑to‑date and subject to regular review in line with best practice and legislative requirements.
* Support the development and maintenance of risk management frameworks, ensuring that clinical risks are proactively identified, assessed and mitigated.
* Monitor and evaluate clinical outcomes, service performance and patient feedback to drive continuous improvement in patient safety and experience.
* Provide expert clinical advice to support teams in managing complex patient safety issues and governance queries, ensuring consistent and appropriate decision‑making.
* Champion a culture of safety, openness and continuous learning, supporting compliance with duty of candour and regulatory reporting requirements.


Supporting Our People

* Develop, review and deliver high‑quality clinical training programmes aligned to clinic services, ensuring all healthcare professionals are equipped with the knowledge, skills and competencies required to deliver safe and effective care.
* Support the ongoing development of the medicines and prescribing team, providing clinical guidance, mentorship and structured learning opportunities to enhance capability and confidence in practice.
* Promote and embed a culture of continuous professional development and clinical excellence, encouraging reflective practice, continuous learning and adherence to professional standards.
* Facilitate and contribute to internal and external training events, workshops and education sessions, sharing expertise and supporting the dissemination of best practice across the organisation.
* Identify training needs through service evaluation, incident trends and governance activities, ensuring learning is responsive, targeted and aligned to patient safety priorities.
* Provide coaching and professional support to healthcare colleagues, enabling them to develop clinical reasoning, prescribing competence and decision‑making skills.
* Support the implementation of competency frameworks and training assurance processes, ensuring appropriate documentation and evidence of capability for all clinic roles.
* Act as a clinical role model, championing high standards of patient care, professionalism and collaborative working across healthcare teams.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

* GPhC‑registered pharmacist (essential) with a clear commitment to maintaining professional registration and standards of practice.
* Independent Prescriber qualification (essential) with demonstrable experience applying prescribing knowledge in clinical practice.
* Strong and demonstrable experience in medicines governance, prescribing and clinical service delivery, with a focus on patient safety and quality outcomes.
* Proven track record in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of healthcare services, ideally within a community pharmacy or clinic setting.
* Experience in reviewing, authorising and maintaining PGDs and associated prescribing frameworks.
* Ability to provide complex clinical advice and autonomous decision‑making, demonstrating sound clinical judgement in high‑risk or ambiguous situations.
* Strong understanding of regulatory, legal and professional frameworks (including GPhC, CQC and relevant national guidance), with the ability to translate these into practice.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and influence at all levels of the organisation.
* Sound financial awareness, with experience managing or contributing to budgets, cost centres or service efficiency initiatives.
* Demonstrable commitment to continuous professional development, including undertaking further qualifications and maintaining up‑to‑date clinical knowledge.
* Willingness and ability to represent the organisation externally, including attendance at professional forums, conferences and stakeholder meetings.
* Highly developed communication, organisational and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
