The Service

Worksop Supported Living is a 24/7 services delivering support to individuals with mental health conditions, learning disabilities, autism and those with behaviours which may challenge. Our support extends to 5 houses, where our residents are supported to live as independently as possible both outside and inside their homes.

The Role

As a Support Worker, your role will involve helping our residents to cook and clean, helping them maintain their personal hygiene (which includes providing personal care), supporting them to spend time in their community and to participate in leisure activities. The role requires you to be creative to help enrich the lives of our residents, and being a calm, resilient person who is able to deescalate situations related to challenging behaviour. You will also be required to help with day to day needs of the service users such as shopping, appointments, finances, medication and meal preparation. You will be an advocate for the individuals you are supporting, reliable and passionate about improving the lives of others. Please note that due to the needs of our service users, there may be elements of moving & handling and risk management involved in the role; as such, you will need to be willing and able to undertake these duties.

What We Are Looking For

Our ideal candidate will be a resilient and adaptable person with the ability to communicate in a clear, friendly and professional manner. We are looking for someone who has a desire to help others and make a difference, and who demonstrates a good work ethic. Candidates need to be committed to ensuring that people achieve the best possible outcomes; this means they should be reliable, flexible, and willing to go the extra mile. You must have ability to handle challenging situations. Empathy and compassion are a must whilst being able to demonstrate a robust and safe approach to managing risk positively is key in this role. Although the role can be challenging at times, the training and support we provide will ensure that you are well equipped and confident to hit the ground running.

A valid full UK driving license is a requirement for this role. Access to a vehicle is not essential but beneficial.

Working Hours

All successful candidates will be required to work on a rota basis over a 24-hour period including weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins; a bonus is paid for waking nights and an allowance is paid for sleep-ins. You will be expected to work a pattern of Late shift (14:30 - 22:00) - Sleep in – Early Shift (07:00 - 14:30) over 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Mid-day shift patterns could be in the rota as well.
