Job Description
The Group Tax Manager based in the UK reports to the Group Financial Controller and oversees the group’s tax affairs. The role ensures regulatory compliance, adds value through tax incentives, optimizes the global structure, and manages the group’s tax risk profile. Responsibilities include implementing robust tax governance, supporting material tax implications such as M&A transactions, intra-group funding, corporate structure, and transfer pricing, ensuring timely filing obligations, accurate tax reporting, and managing tax risk provisions.
Your Responsibilities
1. Enhance the tax governance framework, ensuring effective processes and controls.
2. Stay updated on legislative changes affecting the Group and plan accordingly.
3. Coordinate tax management roles across departments.
4. Support finance managers to ensure compliance with local tax legislation, including training and skill development.
5. Maintain transfer pricing documentation, including master and local files backed by legal agreements.
6. Collaborate with procurement to incorporate tax considerations into contracts.
7. Work with Treasury to ensure tax-efficient external and intra-group funding, considering transfer pricing and Thin Capitalisation rules.
8. Review corporate structures regularly to maintain tax efficiency, considering changes in business streams and legislation.
9. Manage relationships with external tax providers and control associated costs.
10. Ensure ongoing tax compliance and manage disputes with tax authorities.
11. Maintain a tax risk register, update tax provisions for statutory accounts, and liaise with external auditors.
12. Support M&A activities, including deal structuring, due diligence, and legal contract review from a tax perspective.
13. Review tax calculations and disclosures for statutory accounts.
14. Ensure compliance with reporting requirements and adapt to new regulations like country-by-country reporting and Pillar 2.
15. Assist in the Group’s tax compliance programs and training for 5,000 employees.
Qualifications
* CA or CTA qualified.
* Extensive technical and research skills with relevant industry or practice experience.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across diverse nationalities.
* Ability to present accurate, timely data to management.
* Proactive, with a continuous improvement mindset.
* Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and high accuracy.
* Effective negotiation skills with tax authorities.
* People management experience, including mentoring and staff development.
* Influence and communicate effectively with Senior Management.
