We are seeking to recruit an Assistant Director to strengthen our tax valuation team in our London offices. The role focuses on management incentive valuations with potential broader responsibilities within the tax valuation team and wider VME business, including commercial and financial reporting valuations. The successful candidate will be exposed to a diverse range of challenging valuation projects, primarily for Private Equity clients across a broad range of industry sectors, valuing management incentives such as growth shares, preferred securities, carried interests, earn‑outs and deferred consideration arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage multiple valuation assignments and small project teams.
* Collaborate with other EY service lines on live transactions (e.g., Transaction Diligence and Transaction Tax teams).
* Act as day‑to‑day client liaison and attend meetings with clients and their deal advisers.
* Keep the project leader fully appraised of progress.
* Identify issues and flag them to the project leader promptly, contributing to solutions.
* Deliver high‑calibre valuation analyses and reports on time and within budget.
* Provide on‑the‑job training, guidance, and advice to junior team members.
* Contribute to new business development opportunities and proposals.
Key Qualifications & Competencies
* Strong technical valuation skills and the ability to work autonomously in smaller teams and collaboratively on larger engagements.
* Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong time‑management and teamwork skills.
* Ability to interpret complex security term sheets and articles of association.
* Experience constructing and reviewing complex Excel‑based waterfall models.
* Proficiency in PWERM and OPM‑based valuation models.
* Familiarity with Private Equity funding structures.
* Relevant valuation experience at a professional services firm, within industry, or a tax authority.
* Experience valuing management incentive arrangements, including on live transactions.
* Energy, analytical mindset, attention to detail, first‑class numeracy, intellectual rigour, agility and ability to work under pressure.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Outstanding team player with resilience and motivation to operate independently.
* Strong interpersonal skills and confidence when interacting with others.
