Student Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor)
Grade: Band 5. Fixed term contract 12 months. Full time 37.5 hours per week. Location: Norfolk, Cambridgeshire.
Salary: £32,073 - £39,043 per annum (pro‑rata).
Job Overview
Embark on an exciting career journey as a Health Visitor, working closely with children, young people and their families. You will undertake the PGDip Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) training programme, delivered in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University, and gain academic and practical experience within the Healthy Child Programme.
Key Responsibilities
* Attend all university‑directed educational sessions and submit assignments on time to achieve required standards.
* Maintain close liaison with the Practice Assessor; develop a clinical learning programme and reflect on practice‑centred education.
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual or family‑focused care programmes, maintaining accurate clinical records.
* Develop an awareness of wider determinants of health and work to address health inequalities in diverse communities.
* Participate in safeguarding activities, assess and respond to safeguarding concerns for children and young people in line with local policy.
* Establish and maintain relationships with families and multi‑agency partners; report absence and sickness promptly.
* Attend clinical supervision meetings with the Practice Assessor and Practice Lead.
* Adhere to data protection, infection control, and trust risk management policies; keep professional registration up to date.
* Contribute to clinical and safeguarding audits, emergency preparedness and other governance tasks.
Qualifications & Training
* Registered Nurse or Midwife with current NMC registration on part 1 or part 2 of the register.
* Eligibility to register as a newly qualified nurse or midwife before the course start date and meet academic entry requirements for Anglia Ruskin University.
* Commitment to a 52‑week full‑time programme (50 % academic study, 50 % supervised practice).
Experience
* Experience working with children, young people and families, providing holistic, evidence‑based care.
* Experience working in partnership with other agencies and within a team.
* Knowledge of legislation, national guidance and local policies relevant to the Healthy Child Programme.
* Experience working independently and prioritising workload, balancing clinical and academic commitments.
Knowledge & Skills
* Understanding of health and safety, risk assessment and safe working practices.
* Demonstrated promotion of best practice and ability to prioritise workload.
* Strong communication skills – verbal, written and IT – for accurate information sharing.
Safeguarding
* Awareness of safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults; knowledge of relevant legislation.
* Understanding of how safeguarding informs practice within health and community settings.
