Design Manager/Steelwork Engineer

£55,000 - £65,000 (DOE)
We are seeking a Design Manager with strong structural/steelwork expertise to support major nuclear new-build and energy programmes, including work on next-generation power stations and emerging SMR technology. You will operate in a self-delivery capacity, taking ownership of design deliverables across assigned buildings within a large-scale structural steelwork (SSW) scope.
In this role, you will manage and produce design documentation such as
input data lists, reports, drawings, calculations, and presentation materials. You will also oversee design changes, surveillance activities, open points, Field Change Requests, RFIs, and Non-Conformance reports.
Day-to-day you will make operational decisions to ensure quality, cost, and programme targets are achieved while identifying and managing risks that may impact delivery.
You will report to the Deputy Delivery Lead and work closely with internal and external stakeholders, preparing updates, presentations, and meeting records as required.
Requirements:
* Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (Mechanical considered with relevant experience)
* Strong structural steelwork design experience to standards (Eurocodes preferred)
* Proven background in complex self-delivery technical environments
* Confident decision-making skills with strong analytical ability
* Experience in operational planning and delivering against programme deadlines
* Clear and confident communication and presentation skills
* Understanding of CDM 2015 regulations
* Software skills: Microsoft Word/Excel, Navisworks, structural analysis tools, CEMAR
