Salary: £29,093 - £36,395

o £1,455 (5%) secure unit allowance, payable monthly
o £1,000 R&R allowance
o £3,014 enhanced pay for unsociable hours (based on 23 hours per fortnight), payable monthly
o £1,833 sleep-in allowance (average of two per month), payable monthly

The Role

This opportunity is with Brook Street Social Care, working in a secure children’s home in Aycliffe, Durham. The facility provides specialist accommodation for young people aged 10 to 18, many with complex needs requiring intensive support.

Shift patterns include:

* Weekdays: 7:30 am - 2:45 pm and 2:15 pm - 11 pm
* Fortnightly weekends: Saturdays 8 am - 1:15 pm and Sundays 1:15 pm - 11 pm, or Saturdays 1:15 pm - 11 pm and Sundays 8 am - 1:15 pm


Primary Responsibilities

* Act as a keyworker and role model for young people
* Engage, stimulate, and challenge appropriately
* Safeguard and provide stability
* Advocate with sensitivity
* Administer medication as required
* Maintain records and undertake risk assessments
* Write reports and care plans using IT skills
* Provide educational and physical activities
* Understand Children’s Homes Regulations 2015


Candidate Profile

Experience in care is desirable but not essential. The ideal candidate will have:

* A passion for care and compassion in practice
* Strong verbal communication skills
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team
* Calmness and ability to manage challenging situations
* Ability to build rapport quickly with young people
* A flexible, enthusiastic 'can do' attitude
