The UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) is the biggest UK initiative driving forward research to fill this gap. As part of the Department of Basic and Clinical Neuroscience, the UK DRI at King’s focuses on innovative cellular, molecular, and computational research to advance our understanding of neurodegeneration. Dr Marc-David Ruepp is seeking an organised and enthusiastic individual for a full-time research assistant position to support their research on Motor Neurone Disease. This position will involve significant work in mammalian cell culture and potentially stem cell culture, analysis of changes in gene expression by RT-PCR and qPCR, as well as processing, handling, and imaging of mouse brain tissue followed by IHC as well as cell lines by immunofluorescence and high-content imaging, and thus requires consistency and attention to detail, as well as a willingness for occasional weekend work in the context of cellular work. The post-holder will also provide support for general organisational and technical duties to allow the smooth and efficient running of the lab. The successful candidate should have significant laboratory experience, be willing to work as part of a team and to be open-minded and cooperative. You will be a creative, and motivated scientist interested in pursuing questions deeply. This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31 October 2025. Research staff at King’s are entitled to at least 10 days per year (pro-rata) for professional development.
