Job Summary
We are seeking an exceptional and inspirational leader to join Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as Operations Director for the Medicine Division. This pivotal senior role offers the opportunity to shape the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred services across medical specialties, outpatients, diagnostics, and elective pathways. Working with the Divisional Medical Director and Divisional Chief Nurse, you will provide visible, values‑led leadership across one of our largest and most complex divisions, delivering sustainable services, improving patient outcomes, and driving transformation aligned to Trust and system priorities.
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure delivery of safe, effective, and responsive services across the Medicine Division.
* Manage operational performance, including RTT, cancer and diagnostic standards, alongside financial stewardship and delivery of cost improvement programmes.
* Lead major transformation initiatives, including elective recovery, outpatient reform, pathway redesign, and workforce modernisation.
* Collaborate with clinical leaders and system partners to develop innovative service models that improve access, productivity, and patient experience.
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and high performance, ensuring services meet regulatory and governance standards.
Essential Training & Qualifications
* Master's level qualification or equivalent in leadership and management.
* Documented evidence of continued professional development (CPD) for professional profile.
* Relevant knowledge, understanding, and skills gained through study or employment, equivalent to a master’s level.
Essential Experience & Knowledge
* Extensive significant experience at Senior Manager level or above within the NHS, including considerable general management experience.
* Proven experience of leading service improvement and modernisation within an acute trust.
* Evidence of ability to deliver key performance targets whilst maintaining quality standards.
Essential Skills & Abilities
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
* Capability to manage a complex workload under pressure and delegate to meet deadlines.
* Strong team‑working skills, including collaboration and effective delegation.
